PIXI GLOW TONIC – make or break??

Finally I managed to get my hands on this! Having read so many other reviews of Pixi Beauty’s wonder elixir I’ve been keen to try it out as soon as my REN Clarifying Toning Lotion was finished. Normally I’m not much of a toner/essence user but not being able to use any retinol products or my normal peel pads while I was preggo (these Radical ones are probably my all time faves) left me feeling dry and congested at the same time. Peel pads are such an amazing way to exfoliate and brighten your skin whilst injecting a whole swathe of anti-aging ingredients at the same time, but many of them contain retinols and/or salicylic acid which are both big no no’s when you have a little lime sized human inside.

So, what do you do when you are a peelaholic but its no longer on the skincare menu? Acid toners my friend!! This is where the REN lotion came into play, its got glycolic, lactic, citric and tartaric acids from fruit enzymes and your classic willow bark extract to help combat shine. Its marketed to combination/oily skin and I found that while it did make my skin feel lovely and fresh without over-drying it, I was still shiny by lunch time. But theres not much on the market that I have tried that can combat my t-zone.

Pixi by Petra has been on the market for a little while now and I have been eyeing off the Glow Tonic as my next acid toner. On the face of it the REN lotion and the Glow Tonic look similar, but the Glow Tonic has aloe vera and ginseng to soothe and energise the skin, which is quite a nice combination. Below is day one of using the tonic, I’ll do another post after two weeks to compare and report on how its going with my skin!
